Authors of the 20th Century
Right after the cessation of the Second World War people commenced to feel that the world’s basic ethical foundations are plain and justifiable . Both general politics and social relations were relying on the ideas of development, beneficial innovations , faith in the logical , enlightenment , technical advancement , and the potential to explain any phenomenon from a rational point of view . Nevertheless , starting from the second half of the 60’s, the world commenced to change and currently , 40 years thereafter , we live in a changed kind of existence .
We easily notice those advancements which are brought to us by new technology, but we rarely realize the fact that there are certain concepts which the author has put behind those technological solutions. The essence of the upcoming change was first tracked by those people, who as a rule lived anteceding their time – writers and authors. Among the multiple authors whose poems have served for entertainment , there have been a few who have given people a new picture of the future . They have more effectively than others other people created and worded fresh ideas and have ultimately created formed a brand new intellectual and emotional grounding of the future. They have found challenges in the mundane of our lives and have unveiled a set of problems, which were going on without being noticed . They have aided us to become aware of the new problems , and have given us new hope .
These were the authors who have formed the minds of the entire generation, which has live through the times of drastic change; change, which was viewed as chaos at the beginning of the 21 first century. They have made us focus our attention to the most tormenting questions of the past epoch ; those dilemmas , which the people , having survived through the world wars and wild sufferings , was reluctant to deal with . In the end they were raising the most important question “What will happen in the future”?
In this paper we will name some of the most well known authors of the last century. They have all significantly affected literature of their time, have depicted looks and difficulties which were typical to their countries and the period they existed in, and have made the audience think about the real system of moral, having them realize that it is far away from being perfect. One of the most important aspects of their work is that in most cases they have awake the readers’ attention in books and written works. In this aspect one of the most interesting success works is that of a famous author John Cheever.
The achievement of Joan Rowling can be considered special as she has found herself to be the first author in the world to earn $1 billion by writing fairytales. She is today spending a huge part of her money on charity, confronting poverty and diseases. The idea of the book was created while she was on the train from Manchester to London. When the publisher has first decided to publish her book, she has given her 1500 pounds together with a kind piece of advice — to look for a permanent job. He was hesitant of the idea that the young writer would be able to make a living off of writing books. Joann has proved the opposite - having written a number of exceptional fairytales, she has motivated the so-called non-reading people get back to reading books.
This paper is not able to enumerate and more or less accurately list all writers who have given their contribution to the today’s literature. They have been working and putting ideas directly into the thoughts of the people, and therefore were shaping the future. Thus, as we can see, these authors were not creating for relaxation only, but they were also playing a considerable role in creating the culture and the perception of a civilization of the 20th century.
